On January 2nd 2019 the Kamenka-Bugsky district court of the Lvov region sentenced the public activist Oleg Litvinenko to 3.5 years of imprisonment for his participation in a protest meeting.
The court approved a deal involving a guilty plea between the prosecutor and the defendant, in accordance with which the court sentenced Litvinenko to 3.5 years of imprisonment. Being in custody in the pre-trial detention center for more than 20 months - since March 30th 2017, the defendant had actually served the sentence imposed on him. As a result, the court released Litvinenko from prison (under "Savchenko's law").
As a reminder, Oleg Litvinenko was accused under Part 2 of Article 110 (infringing on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine), Article 293 (group disorderly conduct), and Part 2 of Article 345 (threatening or acting violent towards an employee of law enforcement bodies) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for allegedly organising a protest action on March 29th 2017, during which about 200 people holding posters saying "Poles are our brothers" in the Polish and Ukrainian languages blocked the road in the village of Gryada in the Zhovkovsky district of the Lvov region that leads to the border with Poland.
